Audit
Saturday 18 September 2021
poetry
In the quiet hush of morning light,
The ledger lies, a steady page,
Numbers marching in ordered rank,
Awaiting the auditor’s sage gaze.
With keen eye and measured tread,
They scrutinise each entry’s trace,
Seek the truth where doubts may hide,
Balance sheets laid bare, face to face.
Compliance whispers through the files,
Risk assessment hums a low refrain,
Controls are tested, weaknesses found,
Recommendations gently chain.
The organisation hears the report,
A mirror held up to its deeds,
Lessons learned in modest print,
Guiding futures, sowing seeds.
So audit stands, not mere critique,
But a partner in prudent care,
Ensuring honesty stands firm,
And trust is woven through the air.
